here’s a big fat summer beauty post. sorry if you live south of the equator and you’re wrapped in a blanket watching snow fall outside your window. that sucks.

also i should say that recently some very sparkly gold eye shadow spilled in my makeup bag, so pardon how dusty all my makeup looks. 

SKIN 

ROSE WATER: you can buy this at apothecaries and other places that sell fancy soaps and sprays and things you don’t know what to do with (or you can buy it on amazon like a normal human). it tones and moisturizes your skin, and i can’t go without it in the summertime. it cools your face down, and if you spray a little on top of your makeup, it makes you look like a dewy princess. SHISEIDO MOISTURIZER SPF 15: this stuff even smells like summer. if you plan on being in the sun a lot, you’ll want something with a higher spf, but most facial sunscreens feel greasy. this one doesn’t. which is probably why it costs $40. KORRES BODY BUTTER (GUAVA): put on sun screen when you go outside, but put this on after a shower or something. the smell reminds me of a waterpark, so it’s basically all the fun of a waterslide without all the public health risks.

FRESH ROSE FACE MASK: i’m evidently all about roses. at least their smell/essence. this has weird rose chunks in it and kind of looks um a bit unappealing, but it tones and refreshes your skin so well.

MAKEUP

FRESH SUGAR LIP TREATMENT SPF 15: like rubbing solidified lemonade on your mouth. CLINIQUE CHUBBY STICK in Chunky Cherry: light and simple, especially if you don’t want to wear a full-on lip color. i have chappy lips year-round, and when i put carmex on right before i go to sleep, i wake up with soft baby lips. DIORSHOW MAXIMIZER LASH PLUMPING SERUM: wear this underneath any mascara to lengthen and volumize. not sure about plump though. BOBBI BROWN EXTREME PARTY MASCARA: ok frankly i think they’re overselling it a bit with the name - this mascara is really natural and simple, but great for layering. 

LANCÔME ARTLINER: for an actual perfect cat-eye. the applicator is amazing and thin and it’s probably the easiest way to look like you spent 20 minutes doing your eye makeup without actually spending 20 minutes doing your eye makeup. BENEFIT CREASELESS CREAM SHADOW/LINER: i like it in purple snap and birthday suit. they really are creaseless, too. but pretty sheer (hey maybe that’s what you’re into how would i know). URBAN DECAY EYESHADOW in SIN / URBAN DECAY EYELINER IN EL DORADO: good basic, natural eyeshadow color. gold eyeliner is surprisingly flattering, as well. just not too much if you’re pale. trust me i have made this mistake and i don’t want to go back there. but urban decay eyeshadows and eyeliners are the actual best. 

it seems weird that we’re going back to lips now. i probably should’ve put a little more forethought into this. NARS VELVET GLOSS / VELVET MATTE LIP PENCILS: these are weightless and easy and very highly pigmented. can you tell i’m getting tired of talking about makeup? ok it’s alright we’ll keep going. LAURA MERCIER TINTED MOISTURIZER SPF 20: quick and easy and provides really great coverage. NARS SUPER ORGASM ILLUMINATOR: like blush and bronze and summertime magic and glittery sparkle paint all in one. BENEFIT MOON BEAM: a great subtle highlighter that goes underneath makeup
